Warranty Policy – Total Auto Parts

At Total Auto Parts, we are committed to providing high-quality used OEM engines, transmissions, and auto parts sourced from trusted salvage yards across the United States. Our warranty is designed to give you confidence in your purchase while clearly defining what is covered and what is excluded.

1. General Warranty Coverage
  • All parts sold carry a 30-day limited warranty (or as specified on the invoice).
  • Applies only to defective or non-functional parts supplied by us.
  • Priority is replacement; refund is provided if unavailable.
  • Covers part only — excludes labor, installation, or incidental expenses.
  • Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility unless pre-approved.
2. Warranty Conditions
  • Applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
  • Requires detailed defect explanation and supporting documents (photos, mechanic’s report).
  • All returns require a Return Authorization (RA) number.
  • Non-compliant returns may incur a 25% restocking fee.
  • Incorrectly ordered parts are not covered.
3. Special Warranty Exemptions

Warranty does not cover:

  • Accessories & add-on parts (gaskets, seals, hoses, belts, etc.).
  • Electrical items sold separately (alternators, starters, water pumps, etc.).
  • Instrument clusters (mileage not guaranteed; requires dealer programming).
  • High-wear items (spark plugs, wires, bushings, ball joints).
  • Body parts (only door shells covered; no coverage for glass, regulators, trim, etc.).
  • Paint or color mismatch.
4. Engine Warranty

Warranty applies to the long block only (block, heads, internal lubricated parts). No coverage for external components such as manifolds, sensors, or gaskets.

Guaranteed:

  • Engine block is free of cracks.
  • No excessive oil consumption or knocking.

Voiding Factors:

  • Improper installation by unqualified personnel.
  • Racing/high-performance use.
  • Lack of lubrication or overheating.
  • Failure to install within 30 days of delivery.
  • Removed or melted factory-installed heat tabs.
5. Transmission Warranty

Covers shifting quality, gears, and bearings only. Mandatory installation steps (failure voids warranty):

  • Replace seals and gaskets.
  • Flush and flow-test cooler and lines.
  • Replace oil and filter (automatic).
  • Install new clutch and related components (manual).
  • Turn or replace flywheel.
  • Fully seat torque converter in front pump.
  • Verify fluid levels after installation.
6. Electrical & Electronic Parts
  • Covered by replacement warranty only.
  • One replacement permitted if the first fails.
  • Modules may require dealer programming — written proof required.
  • Modified or tampered items not accepted.
7. Other Component Warranties
  • Carburetors: warrantied for rebuildability only.
  • Rotors: covered for cracks or non-machinable damage.
  • Cylinder Heads: covered against warping or cracks.
  • Blocks: warrantied as rebuildable cores only.
  • Struts/Shocks: covered for functionality only.
  • Control Arms: covered for original condition (no bushings coverage).
8. Warranty Claim Process

  3. Obtain RA number before shipping.
  4. Ship securely with RA number and invoice attached.

9. Customer Responsibilities
  • Use certified mechanics for installation.
  • Follow manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.
  • Stop use immediately if issue arises.
  • Maintain professional service records (receipts required).
10. Limited Liability

Warranty liability is limited to the part purchase price or a replacement. Excludes:

  • Labor, installation, removal, or diagnostic costs.
  • Fluids, oils, coolants, or filters.
  • Towing, rentals, or substitute transportation.
  • Loss of income, time, or consequential damages.
11. Pre-Installation Checklist (Mandatory)

Failure to follow these steps may void warranty:

  • Diagnose and fix the cause of original failure.
  • Verify compatibility (VIN match).
  • Replace gaskets, seals, hoses, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, filters.
  • Flush radiator and cooling system.
  • Install new timing belt (if applicable).
  • Replace/resurface flywheel (manual).
  • Fully engage torque converter (automatic).
  • Drain excess oil/coolant.
  • Change oil & filter after first 1,000 miles.
  • Keep all receipts for proof of professional installation.
